SEZAD Launches “Stop by Duqm” Campaign to Promote Duqm’s Tourism Attractions

July 19, 2026

The Special Economic Zone at Duqm has launched the “Stop by Duqm” media and promotional campaign, coinciding with the Khareef season in Dhofar. The campaign aims to showcase Duqm’s tourism, natural and service offerings, while encouraging travellers and visitors to stop in the city and explore its diverse experiences.

Held under the slogan “Stop by… Make It a Stopover,” the campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Duqm’s presence on the tourism map of the Sultanate of Oman and consolidate its position as a coastal destination worth visiting. The campaign highlights Duqm’s coastal climate and its mild, relatively cool temperatures during the summer, as well as its diverse natural environment, including beaches, geological formations and locations suitable for marine activities, adventure and camping.

Running throughout July and August, the campaign presents Duqm as an integrated destination combining marine, nature-based and family tourism. It also highlights Omani hospitality experiences, local initiatives and community-based projects, contributing to the growth of small and medium enterprises and supporting tourism and service establishments operating in the area.

The campaign includes the production and publication of diverse media and digital content across social media platforms, in addition to collaboration with content creators and influencers to promote Duqm’s tourism attractions and showcase the wide range of experiences and activities available to visitors during the summer.

It also introduces tourism routes and experiences designed to help visitors plan their trips and explore Duqm’s beaches, natural sites, marine activities, adventure experiences and family-friendly destinations. The campaign further provides an opportunity to engage with the local community and discover products and experiences that reflect the authenticity and distinctive character of the destination.

Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Akaak, Chief Executive Officer of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, said the launch of the “Stop by Duqm” campaign forms part of the Zone’s efforts to stimulate tourism activity and capitalise on the increased movement of travellers during the Khareef season in Dhofar.

He added that the campaign seeks to transform travelling through Duqm into an integrated tourism experience that encourages visitors to stop, stay and discover the area’s natural, tourism and service offerings.

He explained that the campaign aims to change the perception of Duqm as merely a stop along the road and instead position it as a destination in its own right, distinguished by its extensive coastline, mild and relatively cool summer temperatures, and a variety of activities and experiences suited to families, young people, adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers.

He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among partners from the hotel and tourism sectors and the local community in ensuring the campaign’s success and achieving its objectives.

Akaak noted that the campaign provides an opportunity to support economic and tourism activity in Duqm, increase demand for accommodation facilities, restaurants, cafés and tourism activities, and strengthen the participation of local enterprises in offering experiences and products that enrich visitors’ journeys and encourage longer stays.

Strategically located on the Arabian Sea coast, Duqm is home to a range of natural and tourism attractions, including expansive beaches, rock formations and geological sites. It also offers hotels, services and facilities that cater to the needs of visitors and travellers.

Through the campaign, the Special Economic Zone at Duqm seeks to build partnerships with tourism and service establishments, media organisations and travel platforms. These partnerships will help broaden the promotion of Duqm and strengthen its position as a tourism and economic destination combining investment opportunities with diverse natural and visitor experiences.
