Environmental awareness programs for school students in Duqm

The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) continues its efforts towards spreading environmental awareness among the local community at Duqm within its “Together for Sustainable environment in Duqm” program. In this context, Environmental Sustainability department of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and free Zones (OPAZ) & Oman company for the Development of Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Tatweer) organized an environmental awareness program for a number of students at Duqm Basic Education School, which included 45 elementary level students. The program included a presentation on the importance of protecting environment and nature.
The awareness program also included a field visit to the sewage treatment plant in SEZAD. The students were briefed on solid and liquid waste disposal mechanisms and the importance of water rationalization in order to create a sustainable environment in Duqm.
It’s worth mentioning that SEZAD management organizes many environmental events and programs as part of its environment sustainability program in Duqm, including clean-up drives, as well as awareness and education programs on environmental aspects throughout the year in partnership with community members and institutions operating in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
