The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) has inaugurated a new public park in the Saay Commercial District, spanning an area of 13,000 square metres.

The park features a variety of facilities and services that enhance the aesthetic appeal and lifestyle in SEZAD. Its location was selected to connect with the surrounding commercial and residential areas near the heart of the commercial district, adding a scenic touch to the area.

The park includes essential amenities such as green spaces for relaxation covering 5,000 square metres, a pedestrian walkway extending over 1,500 metres, and eight shaded seating and family gathering areas. It also offers a dedicated pathway for electric scooters, two children’s play areas, a multi-purpose sports field of 800 square metres for football, basketball, tennis, and various cultural and recreational activities, all with dedicated lighting. Additionally, there is a 200-square-metre beach volleyball court.

A wonderful recreational space for residents and visitors to Duqm, it also features over 125 diverse trees, two designated areas for food trucks, and five power outlets for charging electronic devices (USB, Type-C, and three-pin plug). Additionally, it is equipped with two outdoor screens, speakers, surveillance cameras, and facilities to support future wireless communication (Wi-Fi), as well as a fitness area, restrooms for men and women, and external parking spaces.

Ibrahim Al Rawahi, Head of Afforestation and Landscaping Department at SEZAD, said, “The SEZAD administration, through its Duqm Lifestyle Team, continues to develop essential service facilities and infrastructure to create an attractive business environment and a delightful recreational space for residents. The opening of this park complements our ongoing efforts to establish vital amenities in Duqm. We are increasingly focused on enhancing the environmental, aesthetic, and health aspects of the area by expanding greenery and landscaping, which are crucial for the region’s environmental, aesthetic, and economic care.”

He added that this project is a new addition to the vital projects completed as part of SEZAD’s plan to promote a modern lifestyle in the area. He noted that SEZAD will organise various events in the park in the coming period, including recreational activities for children and families. Furthermore, additional parks, such as the Duqm Beach Park and another public park in the Saay area, are under development, with plans to expand the number of parks throughout the region.
