Duqm makes a qualitative leap in public services, infrastructure, entertainment and marketing sectors. This leap is driven by ongoing economic and tourism projects that have been already or will be implemented at the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD).
Adil Amer Al Yaf’ee, Deputy Wali of Duqm, said “Duqm boasts a full set of government institutions and commercial establishments. In particular, the establishment of SEZAD added momentum to the growth of Duqm and generated many gains that has been also extended to neighboring states at Al Wusta Governorate.”
Among projects that have been already established in Duqm are Port of Duqm, a dry dock, a refinery, an airport and other projects that are scheduled to be implemented in the upcoming few years, said Al Yaf’ee, noting that Duqm is being prepared to become a major hub for investors, businessmen and tourists from around the globe.
He also noted out that the projects that were put into action has resulted in a qualitative change in the state and helped to boost business in different sectors. In addition, these projects have also helped creating favorable conditions for the expansion of local businesses and jobs for residents of Al Wusta Governorate.
Duqm has a comparative advantage and a unique investment climate, according to Zayed Juma Al Junaibi, a member of the Municipal Council, which makes it suitable to host the biggest economic projects of strategic importance, such as the Duqm Refinery. These projects provided a compelling argument for improving infrastructure and public services in Duqm and neighboring states in the governorate.
SEZAD’s ongoing projects have made a significant contribution to raising the standard of living for residents, creating job opportunities for those living in Al Wusta Governorate, and developing the small- and medium-sized business and entrepreneurship sectors, Al Junaibi emphasized.
Hilal Subaih Al-Junaibi, a Duqm resident, stated that the state has seen impressive growth in several areas that benefit its residents, such as infrastructure, health care, and education. With the establishment of the Duqm Refinery, he anticipated that Duqm would rank among the worldwide cities that draw visitors, businessmen, and people interested in economics.
Salam Saqat Al Junaibi, a Duqm resident, pointed out that following the issuance of the Royal Decree establishing SEZAD, the Wilayat has emerged as a business destination as a result of the large-scale projects, which have had a positive impact on the city and the citizens.
Salem Hamad Al-Saadi Al-Junaibi explained that Duqm in particular and Al-Wusta Governorate in general have scientifically developed and created job opportunities due to SEZAD’s existing projects and companies established for entrepreneurs in the governorate.
Following the opening of the Duqm Refinery, a strategically significant project, it is anticipated that business and services will scientifically thrive in Duqm and additional industrial projects will be established to help improving the infrastructure and services, including hospitals, schools, and universities.
