Curtains fall on “Amad Duqm 22” event

The curtains fell, on Saturday, on “Amad Duqm 22” event, which attracted over 23,000 visitors over the past 9 days, thanks to the tremendous efforts of the organising committee. The event brought to public various youth activities in the fields of culture, sports, innovation, technology, entertainment and sustainability. The event was organised in cooperation between the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

The event was held over an area of ​​500,000 sqm, as it was designed in a way that simulates a residential village with integrated facilities. The event attracted thousands of visitors, the majority of whom were youth. For Duqm is a city of the future, it attracted many experimental opportunities and introduces different business opportunities while seeking to be an ideal place for work, residence and lifestyle.

"Amad Duqm 22" event combined youth's future vision and brainstorming, as the activities varied between a meditation session, an electric bike circuit (scooter), a paddle show, a game of challenging obstacles, drone races, a show of remote-control car races, art laboratories, video games, comedy plays, concerts, as well as the astronomy camp. Many other events also enticed visitors to enjoy the picturesque nature of Duqm and its wonderful environment.  

The event marked a mini-experimental laboratory for the aspirations of Omani youth for the future of Oman and the world. The design and implementation operations were assigned to a selected group of creative Omani youth to initiate a vision that combines science, technology, art and entertainment in a modern form that highlights challenges and opportunities alike to create a better world.

The Sculptors Forum in Nufoon was one of the largest events accompanying "Amad Duqm 22", in which a group of international sculptors from Spain, Germany, Bulgaria, Romania and Tunisia took part. In addition, three Omani sculptors participated who all could produce the most beautiful artistic masterpieces to simulate the geological nature of Duqm, which was reflected in their beautiful marble statues. 

Moreover, “Amad Duqm 22” attracted visitors to sporting events such as sailing and windsurfing, which gave them a new experience in such sports, which combined the spirit of adventure and fun of challenge. The event also provided diving enthusiasts with an opportunity to experience this sport and explore marine life and sea secrets with professional trainers. Further, another sport activity involved in "Amad Duqm 22" event was paragliding, which included training sessions and aerial tours for visitors.
